Sharing: Prayers for Lent

Lenten Season

The Season of Lent is a time of pausing and reflecting about what our Lord Jesus has won for us: New Life in God, the salvation of our souls!

Every year we come around to this time again, pondering the weight of what Jesus bore for us. He gave His life so that we might live. Some faith traditions ask us to think of ways we can fast from our own wants to make the pausing more meaningful. In our brokenness, He came for us; in our weakness, He offered up His strength; in our sin, He brought the cleansing; In our burdens, He brought us new life in the family of God.

Broken in body

We bow before You

Cleanse us with Your

Living Water

Clothe us with Your

Royal garments

And We will praise You

Our Glorious Lord.

How can we not be overwhelmed with praise for this wondrous gift?

How can we not give back to Him our burdens, our lives?

PRAYER #1

For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

Galatians 3:27 NASB

Dear Lord Jesus,

Thank You for bringing us into Your presence, for cleansing us through Your Living Water poured over us. But in this world we still feel our weaknesses and our lack so deeply. Would You open our eyes to see the beauty that You have brought to us? We have been clothed with YOUR royal robes. When we look at our tattered bodies, we realize how deeply we need Your precious and pure covering. You are such a wondrous Savior for us.

In the name of Jesus, we pray,

Amen.

I am so blessed to invite you to come with me over to the Chronic Joy Ministry website, to read the other prayers for this month of March: one prayer for each week, to focus our hearts on our Savior during this season of Lent.

  1. Dear Bettie, what a beautiful series of prayers you offer at the Prayer Pond for Chronic Joy Ministries! I also love these words and will ponder on them during Lent: “In our brokenness, He came for us; in our weakness, He offered up His strength; in our sin, He brought the cleansing; In our burdens, He brought us new life in the family of God.” Amen! What a wonder it is to be clothed in Christ’s righteousness and filled with His grace and strength in our weakness. Thank you, dear friend, for pouring out your heart so eloquently in prayer, and inviting us to join in. Blessings and love to you! xoxo ❤️

    1. Dear Joy,
Truly it is such a blessing to be able to join in praying together. He has given so much for us so that we can “be clothed in Christ’s righteousness and filled with His grace and strength in our weakness.” Amen! This time of year offers us such a beautiful time to pause and ponder what He has brought us. May you be blessed and strengthened my dear friend. Love & Hugs to you too! xoxo
