Part 1 – Chapter 1: A Dwelling Place

I am so blessed to share that this week is Chapter 1: A Dwelling Place, in Part 1 of the book “Arise and Shine” that my friend Anna Smit and I are sharing over at her beautiful website. I would love to invite you to join me there:

Arise & Shine

Welcome to Arise and Shine: Beloved You are Mine. This is Chapter 1: A Dwelling Place of Part 1: The Bread of Life. You can choose to listen to the introduction (read by Anna Smit) and the opening prayer (read by Bettie Gilbert) in the two recordings below, or read on further below.

Have you ever noticed that God gathers us together in the most unlikely ways? Have you ever noticed that every way He sets us apart is His Way of joining us together in His suffering?

Sometimes, chronic illness or trauma can make us start to believe God has sidelined us, set us aside. It can even make us feel like we don’t truly belong in God’s family, or that we are second-rate citizens somehow. We can believe that God’s beautiful…

  1. This is so encouraging, Bettie. Thank you! I love how you bring out the tender love of Jesus. Like when you describe how He cups His hands around our face and turns our face towards Him. This is my longing desire – “May Christ slow us to savor His beautiful heart in our setting apart for His glorious purposes.” I am presently reading a book a friend sent me called Gentle and Lowly: The Heart of Christ for Sinners and Sufferers by Dane Ortlund. I love it as it reflects on the truth of who Jesus is, about His deepest heart for His people who are weary and faltering on their journey toward heaven. Love and blessings to you!

    1. Dear Trudy,
I am so thankful that you are being blessed with these words also! Anna wrote so many of them, and I have written a portion too–it’s been such a seamless blending of the Lord touching both of our hearts. And He is lifting our own hearts to slow and savor with Him again, even 4 years after we first began this book. I am reading that same book by Dane Ortlund. It is such a blessing and comfort as he shares the deep compassion that is our Saviour! Love and blessings to you too, my dear friend. xo

    1. Do you know, Amy, that is exactly what is happening. The Lord gave us these words four years ago. But He asked us to pause with them, and He wrote them deeper inside of our hearts. So that now as we share, He is making them so convicting and so comforting too, as we offer them back to Him. Thank you for your encouragement dear friend. Blessings to you this week!
