Have you envisioned your day
before ever your eyes were open
and saw the sameness
stretching out
over and over?
I know I have.
Have you opened the window
before ever the door was cracked
and saw the greyness
stretching out
till the bark touched the sky?
I know I have.
But a different sound
is rising in my hearing
and a different view
is beckoning my eyes to see.
The King Calls
The King calls my name
“Spend your day in Royal Courts”
My pauper robes fall
Who is this Fair One?
The Lord, the Ancient of Days
True King over all
There’s a feast for me
And you, spread by the Great King
This day hear Him call.
–Bettie Gilbert
If I listen
to His voice,
I will find
the feast in the grey,
the sun for each day.
“You serve me a six-course dinner
right in front of my enemies.
right in front of my enemies.
You revive my drooping head;
my cup brims with blessing.
my cup brims with blessing.
Your beauty and love chase after me
every day of my life.
I’m back home in the house of God
for the rest of my life.”
every day of my life.
I’m back home in the house of God
for the rest of my life.”
It sometimes comes in the midst of
grey and sameness,
the call to Feast with Him.
I have the choice to listen
or to turn.
The day remains the same,
but my heart
is what will change
When I feast with the King
and feel the
Sunshine of His love.

So beautiful, sweet friend! It reminds me of the Scripture where it says, “Come away with me”, I think it is in Song of Solomon. Those times when the dear Lord calls us aside to commune with us are so precious. Thank you for sharing your dear heart here. God bless you!

Yes, Cheryl, those invitations offered in the Song of Solomon are so precious, aren't they? I am trying to be more aware and listen for His calls to “come away.” I am so grateful that He wants to have communion like that with us! Blessings and Hugs to you! xo

Dear Joy, I am so thankful that you found solace here! Your kind words mean so much to me, my friend! As we are in these days of stillness, it is so encouraging to know that we are not alone in this journey. There is ONE who is calling each of us to that place of communion, and from that place we find communion with those souls who travel similar paths. I am so grateful for your friendship along this journey. May you be blessed and cared for deeply today! xoxo

This post is so timely for me, Bettie. Tears pool my eyes when I read of how God revives our drooping heads and how His beauty and love chase after us. And this – “If I listen to His voice, I will find the feast in the grey, the sun for each day.” Sometimes when my body feels so tired and achy, and brain fog snatches words or what I was going to do next out of my head, it's hard to find that feast in the grey. Thank you so very much for this encouragement, my friend! May He daily give us sufficient grace! Love and hugs!

I love it that God does “revive our drooping heads, and His beauty and love chase after us.” Those are such beautiful thoughts that I am letting sink into my heart also! Love and Blessings and Hugs to you! xo

So absolutely true! “The day remains the same . . “
But somehow everything is different!
May God give us eyes of faith to take in the brightness of His glory when it invades the grey!

Dear Meg, I'm so glad for God's Words that bring such a feast to us. Sometimes a different paraphrase will hit me in a new way, and cause me to slow down and listen. Love you too dear friend! Have a Blessed weekend!
